The difference between CBD and THC? Chemical structure. Psychoactive components. CBD for sleep. Side effects. Drug testing.
The development of medicine and pharmacology directly depends on the development of science and modern technologies. For the most part, their tasks are given clear and not a secret. The history of many, many of our diseases has more than one hundred years. Judge for yourself, cancer was found in primitive people. And, syphilis was introduced to Europe from America in the seventeenth century. So, the treatment of a person has its own chronology, and tens of years to create a vaccine against some massive and unpleasant disease is common.

But, we live in such an amazing time that the time frame becomes an ephemeral and relative concept. Thanks to discoveries, doctors are learning to treat deadly diseases, and it took us just over a year to create a vaccine against COVID-19. The average person may have the good feeling that we are entering a new era - an era of enlightenment and complete freedom from prejudice.

And, it would be great if that were true. But, if you look at the situation in a detached and real way, we will find with horror that our life is full of cave prejudices, and most people believe in incredible myths.

Hemp is one of the most obvious victims of this injustice. A plant's established status in society, from which a terrible and powerful drug is produced, is still relevant for most ordinary people. Although, this unfair attitude, until recently, made it impossible to use hemp products for millions of people in need.
What’s the difference between CBD and THC.
Thanks to the legalization of hemp and other cannabis products, people began to eliminate negative and often false myths. To not repeat the mistakes of uneducated people, let's take a closer look at the main issues. And let's start with what CBD and THC are and how they differ.
Cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are two compounds of the plants of the Cannabis genus.
CBD is a natural hemp extract that has no psychoactive properties but has many health benefits. These properties have long been proven and are not disputed. Moreover, the unexplored beneficial effects on the body continue to be studied and in the future will bring us many pleasant discoveries.
THC is a product found in the leaves and buds of cannabis and is at its highest concentration at flowering. Unlike CBD, tetrahydrocannabinol activates cannabinoid prescriptions, resulting in strong psychoactive feelings.
 Chemical structure.
Given CBD and THC's specificity, it is only natural that they have an identical molecular structure - 21 carbon atoms, 30 hydrogen atoms, and 2 oxygen atoms. But, the devil is hidden in the details, and the minimal difference in the arrangement of atoms generates a completely different effect of elements on our body.
Both cannabidiol and tetrahydrocannabinol are chemically similar to the endocannabinoids of the human body, which gives them the ability to interact with cannabinoid receptors. This interaction's results stimulate the release of substances in the brain that are responsible for transmitting signals between cells. And these signals are responsible for pain, sleep, stress, and other processes.
 Psychoactive components.
As we have already found out, CBD and THC are incredibly similar in chemical structure, but at the same time, they are infinitely different in their psychoactive effects.
The effects of CBD on your body cannot produce feelings that are described as “high.” But at the same time, it very effectively affects the processes that cause depression and anxiety.
In turn, THC binds exactly to those receptors that give a person a feeling of euphoria and pleasure.
The balance of these two elements results in an amazing effect. CBD can neutralize some unwanted effects of THC, reducing feelings of uncontrollable euphoria and powerful sedation.
 Legality.
The process of legalization and authorization of cannabis derivatives has recently acquired a civilized shape. We are delighted that the legislation is finally beginning to assess these products adequately and ceases to demonize this useful plant.
The process of changing legislation does not stop for a day. So, the reference to cannabis was removed from the Controlled Substances Act, but the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) still consider CBD a Schedule I drug.
33 states plus Washington, D.C. have made cannabis status changes in their regulatory framework. This changed the right-hand regulation towards simplification, even for cannabis with a high THC content. Some states have gone a step further and allowed both THC and cannabis, which is good news.
What conclusion can be drawn from this? We are all moving in the right direction, and our society is developing. But, some administrative units continue to be hypocritical, selling alcohol but banning cannabis. Therefore, be sure to study the laws before purchasing hemp products.
 Medical benefits
The substances that we are talking about today have a huge number of medical benefits. Moreover, many of them are identical. This allows you to choose a drug, and it will be determined whether you need side effects in the form of euphoria.
The FDA approved the first drug containing CBD in 2018. It is used to treat rare and severe forms of epilepsy and is effective.
To date, the proven usefulness of CBD is used in conditions such as inflammation, seizures, pain, migraine, nausea, mental disorders, depression, anxiety.
The effectiveness of THC has been proven for the following problems: pain, anxiety, low appetite, muscle spasticity, glaucoma, insomnia, nausea.
Even before legalization, some medical methods and courses included cannabis products. And we sincerely hope that this process will not stop.
 Side effects.
Another advantage of cannabis products is that they do not have significant side effects even when the dosage is repeatedly exceeded. But, of course, you need to be very careful when taking any medications, even such safe ones.
The same side effects that may occur are not critical and will not harm your health. Moreover, many researchers point out that these negative conditions are not caused by cannabis but other medications taken at the same time.
 Drug testing.
Consumption of CBD is not indicated in drug testing, but CBD may contain THC products in exceptional cases. Ah, THC, when checked, it becomes explicit.
We strongly advise you not to limit yourself when choosing medicines, but always remember the law and the fact that it must be followed. And for sure, you should take a responsible attitude to drive and any types of complex activities when using medications and cannabis products.
